PDF Inspector is an online PDF analysis and PDF to Markdown conversion tool built for documents that basic text extractors struggle to understand. Before conversion, it inspects each page to identify text-based, scanned, image-based, or mixed content and selects the appropriate extraction path.
Its layout-aware pipeline reconstructs headings, paragraphs, lists, links, code blocks, multi-column reading order, right-to-left text, and both bordered and borderless tables. When Automatic OCR is enabled, only pages without dependable embedded text are sent through OCR, while digital pages retain faster native extraction. PDF Inspector also handles CID fonts and common encoding issues that can otherwise produce missing or scrambled text.
Files selected from your device are processed locally in the browser using WebAssembly and Web Workers, without uploading the PDF to a server. You can preview the generated Markdown, review it against the source document, and download it for documentation, research, content migration, or knowledge-base workflows. Batch conversion is also available for processing multiple PDFs.
